Sleeping Car to Trieste is a 1948 British comedy thriller film directed by John Paddy Carstairs and starring Jean Kent, Albert Lieven, Derrick De Marney and Rona Anderson. It was shot at Denham Studios outside London. The film's sets were designed by the art director Ralph Brinton. It is a remake of the 1932 film Rome Express.

Plot
The setting is almost entirely on a train travelling between Paris and Trieste after World War II. Two rather mysterious people, Zurta (Albert Lieven) and Valya (Jean Kent), are at ease in sophisticated society. Zurta steals a diary from the safe of an embassy in Paris while they are guests at a reception there, killing a servant who walks in on the robbery. Poole, an accomplice, is passed the diary, but he double-crosses them and attempts to escape with it on the Orient Express. Just in time, Valya and Zurta board the train.

They start looking for Poole, who seeks to conceal himself and the diary. Other travellers become involved, including a US Army sergeant with an eye for the ladies, an adulterous couple, an idiot stockbroker, a wealthy, autocratic writer and his brow-beaten secretary, an ornithologist, and a French police inspector. Staff and other passengers provide light-hearted scenes. The diary passes through the hands of several people while the police investigate a mysterious death.

Binghamton suspects McHale and the 73 Crew of consorting with the enemy, when a Japanese radio announcer broadcasts personal details about Binghamton that only someone close to him would know.

McHale's Navy is an American sitcom starring Ernest Borgnine that aired 138 half-hour episodes over four seasons, from October 11, 1962, to April 12, 1966, on the ABC television network.

Boxing Day at Pledge's Purer Pickles. The factory is quite. The last consignment of special gift-wrapped gherkins for Christmas has long gone.


Nellie and Eli find time to spend a few peaceful hours with the family. It is a small family circle these days and the Pledge's are left with Lily and Walter, affectionately known - by Eli at least - as the Christmas Fairy and King Rat. But is it a good idea to hold a séance to try to get in touch with old Joshua Pledge who has been dead these two years? Is Lily really a medium? Can the ghosts of picklers long departed really roam the factory? Is dad trying to get in touch with Nellie from that great pickle factory in the sky?

The club is having a Lady and the Tramp theme night: the men will be tramps, and the ladies will be ladies. Not so simple for Jacko, who comes as the lady and his mother is the tramp. Unfortunately, the police crash it because their liquor license has expired; Eddie forgot to renew it.

Stand-up comedy series from Yorkshire Television which ran from 1969-1974 on the ITV network; think of it as a family-friendly Mock The Week but without the current affairs element.

Bill decides to leave the social club and go to the Caribbean Club. When Jacko, Eddie and Arthur hear there is a stripper over there, they go over too. When Bill sees them, he refuses to sign Eddie in. Eddie calls the race relation board and Bill is investigated and given a warning. When Eddie goes back to the club, Bill throws Eddie's pint of beer on the floor and they are both barred.

⁣Rather undiplomatic British diplomat Harrington Brande (Sir Michael Hordern) takes up his new post in Spain accompanied by his son Nicholas (Jon Whiteley). The posting is something of a disappointment to Harrington, who was hoping for a promotion. That his wife had left him seems to have affected his career. Nicholas sees it all as something of an adventure, and soon becomes fast friends with the new gardener, José (Sir Dirk Bogarde).

Ludicrus Sextus explains that plans for a new weapon have been stolen, an agent is killed before he can utter the name of the traitor, and Lurcio persuades Ammonia to make the most of her womanly wiles.

⁣The singing/dancing Angel sisters, Nancy (Dorothy Lamour), Bobby (Betty Hutton), Josie (Diana Lynn) and Patti (Mimi Chandler), aren't interested in performing together, and this plays havoc with the plans of Pop Angel (Raymond Walburn) to buy a soy bean farm. They do accept an offer of ten dollars to sing at a dubious night club on the edge of town where a band led by Happy Marshall (Fred MacMurray) is playing. Bobby takes the ten dollars and runs it up to $190 at the dice table. Happy hits on Nancy, but she rebuffs him. He doesn't have the money to pay his band and borrows the gambling winnings from Bobby on the pretext that he will give her a job with his band. Bobby discovers the next day that Happy has hastily departed for New York. The girls follow to a night club where he is working and, after an audition, the manager is willing to give Happy a contract if the girls will sing with his band.

The Trials of Oscar Wilde also known as The Man with the Green Carnation and The Green Carnation, is a 1960 British film based on the libel and subsequent criminal cases involving Oscar Wilde and the Marquess of Queensberry.

Peter Finch won the BAFTA Award for Best Actor in a Leading Role and the film also received four other BAFTA nominations including Best British Film, Best Film from any source and for John Fraser as Best British Actor.

Storyline:
Three Americans are headed by ship around the cape to the California gold fields when they are put ashore for several weeks in a sleepy little Mexican village. While there, they are offered the job of following a lady deep into the Indian-infested mountains of Mexico to rescue the lady's husband trapped by a cave-in at their gold mine. For the job they are promised $2000 each. While each contemplates their own chances for getting the lady and/or the gold mine, if they can survive to enjoy it.

A predatory female plots to rid herself of a meek husband and silence a former lover who may have witnessed the untimely death of her mean-spirited, but wealthy stepmother.

Scotland Yard receives news, that bank notes stolen in a Royal Mint van heist have turned up in South America.
Inspector Caesar Smith, (Denis Shaw), is put on the case, and ends up in Brazil, where he learns that the stolen notes were used in the purchase of coffee beans, which leaves him trying to track down the buyer, as they were more than likely the men behind the Royal Mint robbery.
He follows the trail which leads to Europe, before ending up back in Britain at the door of possibly the guilty coffee importer/van robber.
This is a pretty well paced, and enjoyable, little film at just over an hour, in which Denis Shaw appears to be having a ball with his globetrotting, karate chopping, and coffee beans!
Maybe not a classic, but an interesting way to spend 60 odd minutes.

Klink catches word that his POW camp, Stalag 13, has been ranked as one of the top 10 prisoner-of-war camps. Hogan uses the distraction to sabotage a new rocket being stored at the site.

There's talk of an uprising amongst the slaves, Lurcio's thrown into the dungeon after being caught holding incriminating pamphlets, and repeated rescue attempts make things a little cramped.

The Big Lift is a true account of the Berlin Airlift, which provided food and supplies to the Western sector of Berlin during the Soviet's blockade of Berlin. Sgt. Danny MacCullough (Montgomery Clift) and his friend Sgt. Hank Kowalski (Paul Douglas) are among the Americans called upon to risk their lives to transport supplies to the desperate citizens. The grim war is soon left behind as budding romances emerge between two women and the soldiers. Director George Seaton filmed on location with actual military personnel in minor acting roles, making The Big Lift one of the most remarkable war films of all time.

⁣Private eyes Jeff Randall and Marty Hopkirk are gathering information to allow Fay Sorrensen to divorce her cheating husband but he murders her and makes it look like a heart attack. Marty is suspicious but is killed by a hit-and-run driver before he can prove that Sorrensen is a murderer. His white-suited ghost gets Jeff to meet him at his grave in the cemetery and they expose the murderer between them. However, Marty has been out of his grave beyond the dawn and must wander the Earth as a ghost for the next century, though only Jeff can see him.

Gentle Trap

A 1960 Butchers production about safe cracker Johnny Ryan (Spencer Teakle) who after robbing a jewellers, is himself robbed by a rival gang headed by Ricky Barnes(Martin Benson). Barnes has also pinched Ryan's girlfriend and she in turn has set Ryan up.

However, Ricky's dumb henchmen miss the diamonds on Ryan. With this £60,000 booty, he acquires some refuge at a nightclub in the company of two sisters; the kindly Jean (Felicity Young) and deceitful Mary (Dorinda Stevens).
