The staff are outraged when management insists on closing down the store for redecoration - forcing them to take annual leave when they do not want to.

Klink catches word that his POW camp, Stalag 13, has been ranked as one of the top 10 prisoner-of-war camps. Hogan uses the distraction to sabotage a new rocket being stored at the site.

Based on Victor Herbert's popular 1903 operetta Babes in Toyland, the film was produced by Hal Roach, directed by Charley Rogers and Gus Meins, and distributed by Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer.

Although the 1934 film makes use of many of the characters in the original play, as well as several of the songs, the plot is almost completely unlike that of the original stage production.
In contrast to the stage version, the film's story takes place entirely in Toyland, which is inhabited by Mother Goose (Virginia Karns) and other well-known fairy tale characters.

Our Gracie, in her final but one movie Molly And Me. An out of work actress deciedes to act as an experienced housekeeper in order to get a job as the butler is doing the same trick. Mr Graham, their employer is a retired divorced politican, who is estranged from his son. For Mr Graham and his son life is never going to be the same again, the housekeeper causing havoc and handling a sensitive situation, brings father and son, much closer, in a troubled relationship.

Mr Rumbold's training session for the staff conflicts with everyone's personal plans, which leads to dissent in the ranks.

Shelley and Fran give an early Christmas dinner in the bedsit, before having the real one with the parents, and receive uninvited guests.

After being disturbed by the local Revivalist Band and having a big argument with the boys about religion, Eddie gets converted and joins the band; Joan hatches a plan to revert him to normal.

Bill O'Brien is a New York con man in search of a suitable gullible person to make some money on. In a fancy nightclub he finds Charles Engle, a man ridden by guilt and on the brink of committing suicide after embezzling a large sum of money that he has spent on his high-maintenance wife.

Charles has the appearance of a common hillbilly from out of town visiting the city and Bill decides to scam him for his money. Bill is unaware that the desperate Charles only has until 6 am to pay back the money he has embezzled before the crime is discovered.

One of the showgirls at the club, Nina Barona, is persuaded by Bill to help trick Charles into entering a poker game to win back the money. The game is arranged by a gangster named Dutch Enright.

Corporal LeBeau pretends to be a visiting French scientist while Hogan smuggles out the real one.
