Dr. Simon Sparrow's (Sir Dirk Bogarde) love life improves dramatically when lovely Delia Mallory (Samantha Eggar) is brought into casualty with a sprained ankle. As a model she's relieved at the diagnosis, and she's as attracted to Sparrow as he is to her.
Meanwhile, Sparrow finds himself treating Sir Lancelot Spratt (James Robertson Justice), who has started sleep-walking. He has also suddenly lost his gruff manner, and is being nice to everyone. Sparrow quickly diagnoses Spratt's condition: he's fallen in love. The object of his affection is Physiotherapist Iris Merchant (Barbara Murray). Sparrow urges him on, but she has another suitor: Major Tommy Ffrench (Donald Houston). Spratt tries to hire a private detective to follow her, but when that doesn't work out, he follows her himself.

A veteran firefighter is forced to retire at age 65 by the Fire Department. However, when one of his friends dies in a blaze set by a serial arsonist, the now-retired fireman teams up with his daughter and her fiancé, who is an investigator for an insurance company, to hunt down and capture the arsonist.
The story is about Ulysses' efforts to return to his home after the end of the Trojan war, and the adventures that befell him.
The movie begins with Eurycleia saying to some women in Ulysses' home that Penelope is in charge of the household. Eurycleia tells the women not to consort with the suitors. Penelope has promised under pressure to marry one of her many suitors, who squander the wealth and land of Ulysses. She holds them off by telling them she first wants to finish her tapestry, but she unweaves it every night to stall. Telemachus, the son of Ulysses and Penelope, is sick of the suitors' behavior and decides to search for his father. Ulysses has stranded in the land of Alcinous and is found by Nausicaa.
The tremendous success of this film led to the making of Hercules (1957), which was credited with igniting the Italian peplum craze of the 1960s.

Sir Percy discovers that Chauvelin is blackmailing the banker Rothstein by holding his daughter captive.
A private detective is approached by a wealthy entertainment executive to stop a blackmail scheme against him. Although he hasn't decided to take the job, the blackmailers believe that he already has, and he is marked for murder.

Season One, Episode One - 20 Feb. 1976
Stuttering shopkeeper Arkwright, assisted by his much put upon nephew Granville runs the corner shop in a suburb of Doncaster, boasting that it is open all hours. When not pursuing Gladys Emanuel, the district nurse who lives opposite the shop, Arkwright is ever on the look-out to save money, such as buying a load of fire-damaged tinned food. Unfortunately the damage means that all the labels have come off so nobody knows exactly what they are meant to be buying.
Young Mr Grace decides that the store should open at half past eight so that people can shop on their way to work, but the staff aren't happy and try to sabotage the sales figures.
A British road repairman gets into a feud with the Army, gets drafted and is mistakenly parachuted into Nazi occupied France where his physical resemblance to the local German commandant triggers a hilarious chain reaction.
British officer Roy visits Waterloo Bridge on the eve of WWII and recalls the time when he met a young ballerina during WWI. After he leaves her for the front, she meets a cruel fate.

Mr Humphries is late for work again. He has personal problems, he's fallen out with his mother, left home, and now he's been accused of stealing from the till.
Fog prevents the salesgirl for the Bliss perfume from coming to the store. Somebody has to step up to take her place, and Mr. Humphries is just the man for the job.
A bumbling butcher's boy takes a shine to a recently orphaned girl while visiting his boss in hospital. He vows to return to see her again - only to be banned by the hospital administrator who sees him as a troublemaker.
Not to be deterred, however, the hapless youth dreams up a number of devious schemes to regain entry.

Nurse Anne Graham (Margaret Lockwood) is controversially, but rightly, acquitted of murder after her elderly patient dies under suspicious circumstances. Changing her name, she gets a position nursing wheelchair-bound Edward Bentley (Wyndham Goldie), little suspecting that his wife and the butler are lovers setting Anne up so that when Bentley is found dead, it looks like a repeat of the earlier case.
