Jacko comes back from holiday with news that he is getting married to a bingo caller he met on his travels. When she shows up, everybody thinks she's after his money; in fact, Joan knows this girl to be a gold-digger--and already married. She sends the girl packing and the wedding is off. Albert thinks Jacko will jump into the canal, and everybody heads out there to stop him.

Thinks his trip to the T.U.C. Conference will get him away from everything, Eddie gets a shock when Bill says he's going as well and Barbie has arranged that he shares his room.

The house next door to Eddie and Joan has been sold and the couple that moves in comes as a massive shock to Eddie.

It's Eddie's birthday and the boys at the club band together to send him sexy birthday cards as a joke, which doesn't impress Joan. Bill also sends a joke one from Harold Wilson that leads to Eddie being arrested.

Bill gets angry at Eddie when he keeps ogling Barbie while she's sunbathing in the garden. Eddie thinks Bill is stirring things up, so he decides to move. Bill doesn't want any Black people moving in.

Eddie, Jacko, and Arthur have a meeting to vote for the darts captain for the upcoming Christmas tournament.

Bill comes in and puts his name forward, so they decide on a drinking contest. Afterward, at home, Eddie must sleep on the couch, and he dreams they're all on a desert island; he is the dinner and Bill is the king. They win the darts match and Eddie gives the trophy to Bill.

Barbie invites Joan and Eddie to dinner and sends Bill down to the club to get Eddie. When Bill gets there, Jacko is showing off the handcuffs worn by Dr. Crippen, the famous murderer. He puts them on Bill and Eddie and they are stuck without a key. While Jacko goes to find keys, Eddie and Bill go home to dinner. They break into the factory to find something to cut them off when Jacko arrives.

When Bill buys a brand-new car. Joan tries to convince Eddie that they need one, and after Bill's constant bragging Eddie finally buys ones, but he can only afford a little scrap heap.

After Eddie has a drunken night at the foreman's leaving party, he refuses to go for the job as it's against his principles. When his boss offers it to him with extra money and the key to the executive toilet, he soon changes his mind.

When Barbie convinces join that she should become more alluring to eddie, the plan backfires leading to a misunderstanding between eddie and bill and a drunken showdown in the street .

Bill and Eddie get into an argument about voodoo. When Eddie makes a voodoo doll of Bill, Bill scares Eddie when he pretends it's worked.

Shelley and Fran give an early Christmas dinner in the bedsit, before having the real one with the parents, and receive uninvited guests.

When the Steptoe's receive an unexpected windfall, life is suddenly filled with exciting possibilities.

Harold has holiday plans, and they don't involve Albert or the annual trip to Bognor Regis; Albert attempts to change his son's mind by using emotional blackmail.

Harold picks up some old records and plans to spend the evening listening to music, but of course Albert has other plans.

Harold gets an offer that would enable him to leave the junkyard forever, but his dad has other ideas and does all he can to keep up the family tradition.

Harold pretends to forget Albert's birthday as a joke, but it ends up not being so funny.

Harold plans to travel the world, so Albert goes into a home, but the future holds surprises for them both.

Albert decides to build a bathroom in a very inconvenient place for Harold, who is having a lady friend over for cocktails.

Harold believes that he is about to become a father, but Albert is slightly more suspicious of the mother's virtuous nature.

Hyacinth is not looking forward to Onslow's birthday celebrations, but news that a limousine awaits her and Richard to take them to the proceedings soon changes her mind.
